Preheat your oven to 180c/160c fan/350f/gas mark 4. Same temperature for an air fryer.
Take your puff pastry out of the fridge to let it come to room temperature.
Line a large baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
Make the pizza sauce by mixing together the tomato puree, garlic powder, oregano, chilli flakes and salt and pepper in a small bowl.
Gently unroll the puff pastry ( or roll it out if you are using a block or homemade pastry).
Spread the pizza sauce in an even layer across the pastry.
Top with an even layer of grated cheese and any finely chopped toppings you are adding.
Slice strips (about 1 inch/2 ½ cm) along the width (shorter strips).
Twist each strip in opposite directions at each end to make a good twist.
Place each twist on the baking tray, leaving space in between them.
Brush the pastry with oat milk and pop the tray in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden.
Enjoy!
Notes
Air Fryer - If baking in the air fryer, keep an eye on them as they bake as they will cook quicker.
Fridge - Once cool, you can store pastry twists (or pizza dough twists) in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Freezer - Either flash freeze before they are baked, pop them in a freezer bag until you need them, then cook them frozen or, freeze leftover twists, once cool, and defrost overnight in the fridge.
Picnic or Party - If you're making them ahead for a picnic, party, or a family get-together, I would freeze them before they are cooked as this will give you the best results., then bake from frozen.
Leftovers - However, if it's just leftovers you want to save for later, then just pop them in a freezer bag and defrost them to eat.
