🥖 What is pull-apart bread?
Pull-apart bread is a type of sharing bread where you can tear off a piece to eat with your meal.
Usually, it is partially cut so it is easy to tear off a slice.
It may be partially sliced but it comes in all shapes and sizes.
It's perfect to serve as a side dish if you are sharing a meal with family or friends.
And kids love it!
🍞 Quick bread
This pizza garlic bread is a quick throw-together recipe.
So there's no need to make and knead bread dough for this simple recipe.
Let's call it a cheat's recipe.
Although you wouldn't know that as it's so good.
🍕 Why is this quick pizza bread so good?
Here are the reasons you'll love this easy pizza bread.
- Tastes amazing
- It's great for sharing
- Not expensive
- Quick to make
- Bake it in the oven or an air fryer
- Easy to tweak
- Everyone loves it!
📋 What you need to make pull-apart pizza bread
Here are the simple ingredients you need to make this quick sharing bread.
- Garlic bread - chilled baguette style
- Pizza sauce - you could also use tomato puree or sundried tomato paste
- Oregano - or basil
- Chilli flakes - optional
- Black pepper
- Grated cheddar - use your favourite cheddar, we like vegan Cathedral City
- Fresh basil
🥖 Which garlic bread is good for this?
You can use any garlic bread that is made with one whole baguette or another long-style loaf that is partially sliced and filled with garlic bread.
I use the cheapest chilled supermarket's own brand of garlic bread.
It's usually vegan too, accidentally of course.
🍕 Can you make garlic pizza bread with homemade bread?
Homemade bread can be used for this.
A baguette or longer shape is the best style for this filled garlic bread.
Bake it until 10 minutes before the end of bake time, then add partial slices (don't cut all the way through) and add the garlic butter and fillings, then bake for the last 10 minutes.
🥖 Are supermarket part-baked baguettes suitable for pizza bread?
Yes, you could definitely use part-baked baguettes.
Partially slice them, as above, spread each slice with garlic butter (just mash butter or spread with crushed garlic and a little salt, herbs are optional), then the fillings and cheese.
Bake until crisp and golden.
Simples!
🍄 Adding toppings
Keep it simple or add your favourite toppings to this sharing pizza bread.
As this is a quick bake, just make sure you slice any pizza toppings thinly.
Here are a few ideas.
- Mushroom - thinly sliced
- Red onion - thinly sliced
- Olives - sliced or chopped
- Tomatoes - thinly sliced
- Pepper - thinly sliced
- Pepperoni - try my easy vegan pepperoni, add a piece between each slice before adding the sauce
🧀 Making vegan cheese oozy
Often vegan mozzarella or cheddar doesn't melt as well as regular cheese but you can give it a helping hand.
Now, I will start by saying I don't bother, but if you want it oozy, here's what to do.
Grate the vegan cheddar or mozzarella into a bowl, or add pre-grated cheese into a bowl, then add some mayo and mix well.
Spread this mixture across the filled bread and bake.
Believe me, it will melt well and ooze!
See the photo of a cheese toastie using this method above.
The cheese toastie made with cheese and tasty spreads which ooze into the melty cheese.
It was grilled in the air fryer, so it's extra crispy.
🍝 How to serve garlic pizza bread
Here are a few serving suggestions for this easy dairy-free pizza bread.
- Pizza - a classic side for pizza
- Soup - serve with a bowl of homemade soup, try it with this cream of parsnip soup
- Pasta - perfect with pasta
- Risotto - serve it with this gorgeous mushroom & leek risotto
⏲️ How long will it keep?
Pizza garlic bread is best served freshly made.
While it is hot and crisp, with all the buttery sauce and melted cheese.
I mean feel free to pop any leftovers in the fridge to eat the next day and it will be tasty for sure, but not quite as lush as when it's freshly baked.
