🧾 Key Ingredients
Here are the simple ingredients for this hearty falafel wrap, which makes a hearty lunch or is perfect for dinner with a salad.
The full ingredient list and method are in the recipe card.

- Flatbread - these come in all shapes and size; you want them to be big enough to fill generously and soft, so they are easy to wrap
- Falafel - you can use shop-bought falafel (my tip is to crisp these up in the air fryer or oven; it really improves the texture) or homemade falafel; try my Oil-Free Air Fryer Falafel, White Bean Falafel or this Red Kidney Bean Falafel
- Pickled beetroot - if you don't like pickled beet your could add cooked beetroot that isn't pickled; most supermarkets sell vacuum-packed cooked beets
🥙 What Can I Use Instead of Flatbread?
Making these wraps with flatbread makes them a filling meal with a real taste of Lebanon, but if you can't get hold of big enough flatbread or some suitable for vegans, here are some other options.

- Large flour tortillas - wheat, white or flavoured tortillas
- Naan bread - just make sure it's vegan, they aren't always dairy-free
- Pitta bread - a falafel pita is a delicious option too
🥗 Pile on the salad
There's plenty of salad in this falafel wrapper, giving lots of flavour, texture and crunch.

Vary your wrap each time you make it for a taste sensation. Here are a few ideas:
| Roasted Vegetables | Salad Vegetables | Fresh Herbs |
|---|---|---|
| Aubergine (eggplant) | Grated carrot | Mint |
| Beetroot | Fresh spinach or kale | Parsley |
| Butternuts Squash | Sliced spring onion | Dill |
| Bell peppers | Shredded cabbage | Basil |
| Courgette | Finely sliced red onion | Chives |
Also, try it spread with hummus, and for zing, add some Homemade Pickled Cabbage. It's super easy to make and it has a good crunch and lots of flavour.
🥣 Middle Eastern dips
To give that authentic Middle Eastern flavour, I added a red pepper paste (tapenade works too) to the wrap before adding the salad and falafel. Here are a few other dips that would be gorgeous in this hearty sandwich.

- Baba Ghanoush - a dip made with roasted and mashed aubergine (eggplant), lemon, tahini and garlic
- Sundried tomato paste - try this easy Homemade Sundried Tomato Paste
- Hummus - try my Easy Hummus Recipe
- Labneh - strained vegan yoghurt with a little salt, which is like a soft cheese
- Mutabal - an aubergine dip made with tahini, yoghurt and lemon juice (try this vegan mutabal recipe)
- Tahini paste - comes ready to use in jars
- Toum - a garlic paste mixed with olive oil
- Yoghurt - vegan yoghurt mixed with mint or parsley

👩🏻🍳 How to Build your Wrap
- Warm the flatbread - to make it more flexible for filling and wrapping, but don't overheat it as it will become crispy and harder to fold
- Add the dip - spread the red pepper paste, hummus, or other dip across the flatbread generously
- Now add the salad - layer up your salad, be generous, it adds colour and crunch
- The falafel next - you can add the crisp falafel whole or half them
- Crumble over the feta - if you are adding it, but it does add a nice salty and creamy finish
- Drizzle over the dressing - this takes the wrap to another level, taste-wise, and shouldn't be skipped
- Wrap it - when using flatbread, you can roll, but turning it into a parcel wrap is difficult unless it's thin; you can also fold it around the filling like a taco

💭 Lebanese Falafel FAQs
A falafel wrap is much better served hot or at the very least warm, which brings out the flavours and contrasts with the cold, crisp salad and dressing.
Make sure you add the dip and salad leaves first as a barrier, then when adding wet ingredients like pickled beetroot or other pickles, drain them well before adding and don't add too much dressing.
Yes, you can make it ahead, but add the dressing just before serving it.
Serve this wrap with a side salad or Potato Salad and corn on the cob or sweet potato fries to make this more of a meal.
