⭐ Why You'll Love These Wraps
- Ready in 15 minutes
- Crispy finish
- Packed with Tex Mex flavours
- Great hot or cold
- Perfect for Packed Lunches
- Easy to tweak with what you have
- Bean for fibre and protein
- A fun alternative to sandwiches
💭 What is a Crunch Wrap?
- It's a wrapped, filled tortilla that's toasted until crisp
- The outside becomes crunchy while the filling stays soft
- It combines the convenience of a wrap with the texture of a toasted sandwich
- Inspired my Tex Mex fast-food crunchwraps, but made with simple vegan ingredients
💭 Why Toasting Makes it Better
- Melts the cheese (for more ooze with vegan cheese, add a little mayo to the grated cheese)
- Adds crunch
- Makes the tortilla sturdier and easier to hold
- Stops the wrap from getting soggy, if you make it ahead
💭 How to Keep Crunch Wraps Crispy
- Throughly dry washed veg
- Don't overfill
- Add salsa sparingly
- Toast immediately after filling
- Cool slightly before wrapping for lunch.
📋 What you Need to Make this Crunch Wrap
This Tex Mex wrap is full of lots of fresh flavours and spice, nothing fancy.
The full ingredient list and method are in the recipe card.

- Vegan cheddar - smoked cheese is good too
- For cheese ooze - mix a little mayo into the grated cheddar, vegan cheese doesn't always melt well
- Guacamole - can be swapped with slices of avocado
👩🏻🍳 A few Tweaks
Here are a few tweaks you can make:
- Add some cumin for warmth and chilli powder for heat
- Use kale instead of spinach
- Use kidney beans instead of black beans
- Vegan sour cream is good instead of mayo
👩🏻🍳 How to make Tex Mex Cheese Crunch Wraps

- Step 2: Next, add the drained beans, the mayo or sour cream, paprika, and salt and pepper.

- Step 3: Mix it all together well.

- Step 4: Spread mayo on a flour tortilla, top with spinach leaves, and then pile on some of the bean mix.

- Step 5: Top with dollops of salsa and guacamole, then fold into a burrito.

Jac's Top Tip
💭 Soft tortillas for wrapping
If you microwave your tortillas a few seconds before wrapping them it will warm and soften then making them more pliable and easier to wrap. A dry tortilla will tear when you wrap it.
💭 Are Crunch Wraps good in Lunch Boxes?
- They stay delicious after they cool
- The tortilla softens slightly but still has a great texture
- Once cool wrap it tightly
- Pair in lunch boxes with fruit or salad and a few tortilla chips (try these Homemade Paprika Tortilla Chips
FAQs
If it's falling apart, it either has too much filling or is not wrapped tightly enough.
It might be that the pan is not hot enough, there is too much filling or you haven't toasted both sides.
Yes, assemble them, pop in the fridge and toast/ grill them when you are ready.
Absolutely, air-fry until crisp. You may have to turn them.
You could serve it with extra salsa or guacamole, salad, corn on the cob and potato wedges or sweet potato fries.

Loved this crunch wrap recipe! It was so flavorful and I loved the combination of veggies. Grilling after you wrap it makes a big difference too and much easier to hold.
